Marriage

The Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God’s values. In the vocation of matrimony, husband and wife are called to be an image of how Christ has loved the church.

Here is a list of what you will need for the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony at Saint Michael’s Church:

1.    Certificate of Baptism (and Confirmation)

2.    Letter of Release (from your own pastor if you are not a member of our parish)

3.    Testimony of Freedom (must be signed by two witnesses in the presence of a notary public)

4.    Pre-Cana Workshop

5.    Marriage License (from the City Clerk’s Office, at least one month before your wedding)

6.    Name and Address of the Best Man and Maid of Honor (who will sign your marriage license)

7.    Offering – $400 (not including music)
