About this Event

In May 1916, Pope Benedict XV designated Our Lady of Charity as the “Mother and Patroness of Cuba.”  In 1926, a beautiful basilica was built in her honor in the village of El Cobre.  When Cuban immigrants started coming to New York, we were the first parish to welcome them.  That’s why we have a tradition of celebrating a Mass in honor of Our Lady of Charity of El Cobre every year on the Sunday closest to her feast day.  Our celebration this year will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 7th.  All are invited.  For more information, please contact Amada Pablo.

En mayo de 1916, el Papa Benedicto XV designó a Nuestra Señora de la Caridad como Madre y Patrona de Cuba.  En 1926, se construyó una hermosa basílica en su honor en el pueblo El Cobre.  Cuando los inmigrantes cubanos comenzaron a llegar a Nueva York, fuimos la primera parroquia en darles la bienvenida.  Por eso, tenemos la tradición de celebrar una Misa en honor a Nuestra Señora de la Caridad del Cobre cada año en el domingo más cercano a su fiesta.  Nuestra celebración de este año será a la 2:00 p.m. el domingo, 7 de septiembre.  Todos están invitados.  Para más información, por favor contacte a Amada Pablo.
